Key Responsibilities:

• Greet, aid, and share festival programming with festival attendees.
• Communicate with festival ambassadors, staff, and other volunteers.
• Engage with the audience and ensure a fun festival experience for everyone.
• Be ready to help set up, take down, and work with as a team player for your assigned program.

Take on a proactive role at the festival by leading fellow volunteers and ensuring the event runs smoothly. Work closely with the core staff and get an inside look into the behind-the-scenes of a cultural festival. Flex your communication skills and build confidence in leading a dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Schedule volunteers and assign tasks onsite.

• Learn programming details before the festival and train volunteers on festival programming and onsite expectations. 
• Adapt to situational and environmental changes during the festival.
• Be ready to help set up, take down, and stay in communication with staff throughout the festival. 

Required Qualifications:

• Commitment to attending orientation sessions prior to the festival and all three days of the festival.
• Ability to adapt to change and work with minimal supervision.
• Great interpersonal skills and the ability to take charge.
• Experience with Google Suite and good time management skills.
• Ability to communicate in Mandarin is an asset.

Got an eye for photography? TAIWANfest is looking for volunteer photographers to capture the best moments of the festival. Come prepared with your trusty camera and your own artistic spark to find the best angles of this cultural event.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take photos of all angles of the festival, including programming, attendees, volunteers/staff, onsite scenery, and any assigned areas.
• Communicate with staff throughout the festival.
• Upload photos to staff drive at the end of each shift. 

Required Qualifications:

• Experience in street or event photography is an asset.
• Commitment to the scheduled shifts.
• Volunteer photographers must bring their own camera.
• Ability to adapt to changes and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

• Introduce performing artists / speakers and engage with the live audience.

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly attitude.
• Commitment to attending orientation sessions prior to the festival and at least one whole day of the festival.
• Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
• Ability to adapt to changes with the scheduled programming with little warning.

Be the star behind the TAIWANfest stage!

Stage Managers work closely with our staff, emcees, and performers to bring a spectacular live show to our audiences. Ensure the programming goes to schedule and adapt to changes during the festival. Practise communication skills and be a part of the festival with the best view of the stage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn festival programming and stage tech riders prior to the festival
• Check in with staff and artists backstage and ensure scheduled programming runs smoothly
• Communicate with performers, technicians, emcees, and staff throughout the scheduled programming
• Help set up the stage where needed

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly attitude.
• Commitment to attending orientation sessions prior to the festival and at least one whole day of the festival.
• Ability to speak a second language is an asset.
• Ability to adapt to changes with the scheduled programming.

Calling all bilingual arts and culture enthusiasts! TAIWANfest is looking for live language interpreters for our festival programming and special guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn this year’s programming prior to the festival.
• Check in with staff and artists to ensure the best experience for audiences.
• Translate between Mandarin and English for artist talks and/or artist interactions.

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly attitude.
• Commitment to attending orientation sessions prior to the festival and at least one whole day of the festival.
• Fluency in Mandarin and English.

• Translate between Japanese and English for workshops and artist interactions.

Required Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly attitude.
