2022 LunarFest

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with 2022 LunarFest.

LunarFest is a legacy event from the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad and has turned into an annual Lunar New Year Celebration in the Greater Vancouver Area. Always looking to Celebrate Like No Other, we continue to share the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year with those from all cultures and backgrounds.

We are seeking highly passionate and like-minded individuals to join us. If you are interested in helping or you are looking to build your resume, we have various volunteering opportunities waiting for you.

Onsite Volunteer Positions

We are looking for volunteers for the Lunar New Year performance at the Orpheum Theatre on February 1st. This role will work with our team to welcome guests to the event.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Welcome guests into the venue
  • Hand out seating tickets for guests
  • Remain onsite at the venue to direct guests

We are looking for passionate and responsible volunteers to help out onsite at LunarFest in February. Onsite ambassadors will be assigned a variety of roles that include helping out at the info booth, manning exhibitions booths, assisting in craft workshops, and explaining the event’s programs.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Directing attendees at the info booth
  • Providing information on our programs and directions
  • Helping out at the merchandising and exhibitions booths

We are looking for volunteers to assist in the set-up of LunarFest prior to the event. Duties include moving large displays, placing tables and chairs, fencing, and other tasks.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up tents
  • Place and arrange tables and chairs
  • Provide assistance in other requested tasks

Online Volunteer Positions

We are seeking a volunteer who will work alongside the Website Administrator to upload and maintain the event websites.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Website Administrator in upload festival program content to our websites using WordPress platform
  • Check website content for accuracy
  • Proofread and edit the text before publishing

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Experience in WordPress would be assets but not required
  • Attention to details and well organized
  • Willingness to learn

We are looking for volunteers fluent in Chinese and English to assist in translating text for LunarFest’s website, social media, and other written content. This position requires written proficiency with both languages and familiarity with Google Suite applications. 

Tasks:

  • Translate and edit text from Chinese to English or vice versa
  • Proofread and check for grammar, spelling, and punctuation accuracy

We are seeking a volunteer who has experience in video editing who can help in the organization, editing, and processing of video files. Ability to draw and create graphic animations are a plus.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Create and edit high-quality videos for our video programming
  • Assist the Artistic Director and the Senior Designer

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite – Premiere, After Effects, etc
  • Ability to create high quality video animations and transitions
  • Have good artistic sense and be highly creative
  • Enthusiastic personality
  • Willingness to learn

We are looking for budding graphic artists to help design print and online advertisements for various event programs.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Create hand-drawn/digital illustrations according to design briefs and guidelines for our event activities
  • Assist the Artistic Director and the Senior Designer

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite – Photoshop, InDesign, etc
  • Have good artistic sense and be highly creative
  • Enthusiastic personality
  • Willingness to learn
